:: inspiration ::

This is a sneaky peak at what I'm working on at the moment. It's a little project involving all of my loves, jewellery, embroidery, collage and now movie making. Things are still in the early stages but I'll keep you posted on how things come along.

I have had a lovey week, spending time with family and friends, planting and nurturing little seedlings in my garden and eating wonderful fresh food in the garden. I have been working on some new jewellery for my Etsy shop as well.

Maybe it is the sunshine or the smell of summer in the air, but I am being drawn to simple designs, shapes and colour combinations. I think of Indian summers looking at this necklace, the rich heat of the red semi precious Carnelian.
I have hit a wall with my bed time reading lately, do you have any recomendations? I like a bit of everything, so let me know what is gripping you at the moment. Have a lovely week x

I am sitting in bed today sniffling and coughing but secretly enjoying the fact that I'm wrapped up warm, can wander through blogland guilt free and have an excuse to still have my PJs on!
I have been trying to get officially back to work for the last couple of days but have been distracted, procrastinating and avoiding it. So I have decided to gift myself the next few days as an extended holiday. I am going to do things I want to do, not have to do. (except maybe dishes & laundry!)
What do you think of the beautiful embroidery selection I found on Flickr?

A mixed media morning

Sunday I had planned to get stuck into this new project but friends from far away lands popped by for a visit so my schemes got put on hold. Yesterday I wanted to get the jewels out and the day sped away from me. But this morning I awoke full of inspiration and drive and have just completed these.

This one is my favourite.

I ironed a copy of a little painting I did a few months ago of two little birds on a branch onto a piece of fabric and then layered paint, paper and a snip of vintage lace ontop.

I still have the iron out (a rare sighting in this house!) so I'll keep working away.

An art filled weekend

"Anais" bracelet

I have finished the book keeping! I am so relieved that both sets are done and dusted and awaiting delivery to the accountant.

In celebration I spent some time yesterday making up some new designs and loading them into the shop, head over and let me know what you think of my new favourite colour?

So now that one of my major projects are complete I can re-imerse myself into my creative life. I, as always have so many ideas and plans up my sleeve, so I have been jotting them on the back of a piece of wall paper and have pinned it to my studio wall.

"home is where the heart is..." proverb #1

I have been creating some more little fabric pieces too which is great fun and I am really enjoying exploring the meanings of the proverbs I have found.

I am really looking forward to this weekend, tonight Holly is coming over with Barney and we are going to have a lovely girlie night. I have pizza, salad, dips, cake and a movie! Then tomorrow Mr S is working so I will indulge myself in my first ever copy of "Artful Blogging". I keep seeing US bloggers talking about it and yesterday I found a company here, bladerubberstamps that sells them. To my delight the magazine arrived this morning! Talk about speedy delivery, I'll definately be shopping there again.

Have a lovely weekend x

Inspire me Thursday

Notebook
I love my Moleskins, I love them soooooo much! This entry was from 01.09.08 but I just tried my date stamp for the first time and got the digits mixed up, so it says the 10th!
I am always inspired by flowers, their smells, shapes and colours. Most of my doodles are of flowers and I must have near 5000 pics on my computer too. It was only when I completed this page I realised I could be using my own images not ones found in magazines. But it was a great starting point and as always an inspiring page to go back to.

During my mamouth clear out I decided that I was going to get rid of all the threads I have accumulated over the years. I filled a bag and sought out a new home for them. Then the next morning I realised that I wasn't quite ready to pass them on and decided to use them for something fun, and bird related, of course. So here is a very amature piece of embroidery. I have had so much fun with this so far, who knows how long it will take me to finish!

I have been doing a great selection of things today, bits of graphic work, making some jewellery and some photography. Some days I like having a mixture of things to work on, and today was one of those days. I took some new photos of some of my current etsy stock, just to give them a lift. And I worked on some new pieces which I'll be listing in the shop tomorrow, so check by for a peek.

I'm Back

My extended holiday was brilliant and thank you so much for all your kind birthday wishes. I had a great few days eating, reading and walking, and I even got balloons and banners! I have lots of new flower photos but I am still working through them and will be creating from them this weekend. These are a beautiful bunch of Poenies I got and love them so much I decided to use them for my new banner!

On Tuesday I was over at my aunt's house and she showed me this amazing book, "The Young Ladies Journal" an illustrated and bound selections of magazines from 1864. She was given it by a friend who found it in a skip!!!! Who in their right mind would part with a book like this?

This page is a fold out for embroidery patterns. I took photos of 100's of the pages so I'll share them with you over my next few posts.

I can't resist sharing this photo of Pablo with you. I am becoming one of those people who I used to laugh at who took endless photos of their pets. Now I know why they do it. He is such an amazing little creature and I have become so soft.

Well as I have been away for so long I have a lot of catching up in all your blogs to do and need to go and have a good sleep for all the making I plan for this weekend. Happy weekend to you all :)
