:: the meaning of things ::

Carnelian
Carnelian is chalcedony, which is a form of silica made up of fine shards of the minerals quartz and manganite. The semiprecious stone was used by the Greeks for stamping wax letter seals because the wax wouldn't stick to it!

Carnelian is my one of my favorite gemstones becuase of it's deep and rich red colour. It make me think of Little Red Riding Hood and her blush coloured coat. But more than the colour my love of gemstones is really their meanings, their healing, spiritualand atrological properties. Isn't is wonderful that if I feel in need of extra strength I can turn to a particular stone as a reminder.....

Do you have a favorite gemstone? What is it about this stone that means something to you?

concentrate...carnelian charm necklace
This stone is said to represent the strength and fertility of the earth. It is also said to help bring forth the wearers inner receptivity and concentration. As you can see from my Etsy shop it is one of he stones I am constantly drawn to use.
