New Etsy Shop

Hi, hope you all had a fab Christmas!

I'm back to work and really excited about the new creations I have in store for the new year. I set up another etsy shop , laurabailliedesigns2, last week for my art work, photos and boxed prints and started listing today. I am going to be patient this time an list a few items each day, rather than all at one which is what I did when I opened my first shop!
I have new jewellery designs coming into my first shop too, I gotSo tonight I am making up the listings and keeping them inactive so I can list one at a time with out having to sit and create the whole thing. Got a busy week ahead with family gatherings and meeting up with friends so I'm making the most of a quiet day in.

New Jewels

It's 2am and I'm still up, I finished making about 12am and have been on etsy listing bracelets and now ordering books on amazon and checkin out my favorite blogs, oh how inspiring!

I ordered new beads last week for some orders I got for 'purple and pinks', so i opted for some more amethyst chips and rose quartz, and some new swarovski crystals in violet, fusha and other pastel colours. I am hapy with the results and made doublers for the shop.

I have as I have maybe mentioned before (lol) been making just a few Christmas cards lately, (approx 139!) which I have just handed over the last of the other night to a very happy customer. But as usual I had not many any up for myself and was stumped for an idea, and then tonight the inspiration/ idea came to me through a chain of events. I mentioned on one of my recent post 'flowers' about the photos for my mum, the hellebore plant, well she decided she wanted 6 cards made up, 3 black and white and 3 in colour. I made them up and look fab, but while i had the image on photoshop i had a wee mess about with it and came up with our 2007 Christmas card!So Happy Christmas to you all!

I've been tagged!

I have been tagged by Blaze Danielle, thank you! So here are 7 interesting fact about me and my life and even a photo or 2!

1. I live in Paisley, in a beautiful tenement flat, which was built in 1905. The towns main indutsry in times gone by was silk weaving, and my flat it 100 yards from THE MILL, a beautiful building built in 1838. I moved in 4 years ago and am slowly making it my own. The 'Paisley Pattern' design comes from my town!
2. I am the eldest of 15 grandchildren, me at 29 and the youngest is baby Eve who is 8 months old! So i come from a large family for which I am so greatful, they are so loving, supportive and encourging.

3. I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2002 with a BA HONs in Textile design, my specialism was knitted textiles. (I have just this year learned to hand knit!) My loves are designing and photography.

4.I got married to my bo, Stuart, in February this year. We have been together 10 years and were both not interested in marriage, but then something changed and we gave ourselves 3 months to plan the day. It was wonderful and low key with imidiate family and friends.

5. I don't drink alcohol any more. I gave it up when I was 21, so now I enjoy a bowl of home made soup to wind down after a busy week!

6. I had some of my work featured in a film when I was 17, the film was "The Near Room", I did paintings of Mohamad Ali for scenery.

7. I love angels, I have 20 different angels around the house.

DIY decorations

I just found these amazing decorations on black eiffel's blog, aren't they beautiful! And she has a link to a tutorial for them too, here. I have just printed the templates off to make these up myself! So I'll let you see the finished articles.

I made some more earrings this morning too, my new beads and findings I ordered came this morning so I'll get them added to my etsy shop soon. I have had a lovely day today, it has been rainy and dull here today so I've been sitting in our living room with the heting up and candles burning making away, and to top it all off my bo has just finished making beautiful leek and potato soup mmmmmmm.

There is something special about someone making your tea for you, and especially tonight when I'm feeling a little under the weather, hot soup and hot water bottles make me smile inside and out.

Flowers

This is a photo I took of a pot of flowers at my Mum's house during the summer. She has asked me to make a card for her friend so I was looking through my photo bank and found this and I think she might like it. Looking back over all my flower photos always fills my heart up, I know it sounds really naff but I get so much pleasure from the beauty of plants and flowers. I always feel robbed when I see a flower that stops me in my tracks and I don't have my camera to record its beauty.

I have been out helping my bo at work today and we didn't get home till late so I decided to have a night off making, I have lots to do tomorrow so I don't feel bad about it.

FRAME UPDATE: I was all excited about photographing the finished frames but the black gloss paint round the edges was still wet so we had to wait untill tonight to lay the paper on them. I say we but really mean my bo, I am surfing blog land and he is patiently laying down the sheets. He has just told me they will be ready to photograph tomorrow morning!

Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I found this photo today, I was scanning in some pictures for my aunt today of her mum and dad, and this one was from their wedding day. I love it.

I am sorry I haven't been posting much but I have lots of orders coming in and I am limiting my internet time to absolute essential at the moment or else I would get nothing done! I made up 55 last night and finished them off today, and got one set posted off and have the rest to deliver tomorrow, so I had a productive day. It got so dark today so early and it feels really cold, so I made a batch of chilli to keep me going and it worked mmmmmm.

My bo has been busy working on frames for me too, we are sitting in the living room surrounded by frames and the scent of gloss, how nice! They should be dry in the morning so I'll be able to but my designs on them and get some photos up for you to see. This one was a practice one using some of my friends wall paper, and I drew on top of the indented black bits with silver pen to highlight the lovely shapes. My bo has painted the frames black and they look much better.
To make them he used: 33 x 18cm finished pine battons x 4 ( any lengths you like)
sheets of hardboard for front
panel pins
staples.
He is so good to me!

I also posted off my first Pif today to Blaze, if you are out there it is on it's way across the water as we speak. I really enjoyed spending the time today wrapping it all up, getting me in the mood for all the christmas wrapping ahead. I have decided this year I am going to use magazine pages as wrapping paper and decorate them with ribbon. We go through so much paper and card at Christmas I feel I have to do my bit, and they look fab as well.
Happy Wednesday night!

Christmas is coming

Having a lovely weekend, made soup, veggie currie, cards and 3 braceletes and even managed to sqeeze in a bit of shopping today. We were on our way to B&Q tonight when we remembered seeing one of our local hardware shops was having a closing down sale. BARGINS GALORE! I got 3 x storage tubs for my beads, 20 paint tester pots for £3!!, and beautiful Christmas decorations.
This beautiful star is one of a set of 4, bargin of the day, £2! I am going to make a feature of them on my fire place.

Bobbles galore! I am going to use the small ones for my tiny tree and use the larger gold and burgandy ones in a vase. I have been using my glitter glue to decorate some of the larger ones but they look a bit ropey at the moment so I'll need to think carefully about the designs.

And this was only 50p so I had to have it! It has really put me in the mood and I am really looking forward to start decorating and getting into the spirit of things. It was all helped along by a recent issue of the Ideal Homes magazine which is full of beautiful ideas and goodies and I plan to make my own versions. We also watched "Elf" tonight, it was so funny and cheesey but made me feel warm inside. So when I have my place all done I'll take some photos to let you all see.
